Celebrations at Best Friends Houston

It's Friday and that means its time to celebrate!

We see a lot of pet guest who come because they are going on vacation, business trips, or visiting relatives.  But some times a family comes in because of some thing special has happened.  Take Casey the yellow lab for instance.  She is boarding this weekend because her mommy is having a baby today!! Congrats to Casey's family, we can't wait to meet the new member of the White Family.

Then sometime's we get to share a moment with a pet guest who could not be with their family. Like Oboe, she is a black Pekinese and one of our favorites guest's here.  We have the special opportunity to spend time with Oboe and help her celebrate her 8th Birthday over the weekend!  We are thrilled to be apart of these two family's special moments.  If you have a pet's birthday coming up please remember us!  Best Friends Houston offers spacious private indoor play area that we are able to host parties as well as having access to a very large yard.  The yards include a pool, sand box and toys and shade of human guest's.  If you have a theme or decor we would be happy to help accommodate your every need, so that you and your pet can enjoy that special day with friends stress free!

Employee Of The Week!

Hey, my name is Miguel but my friends call me Mike and I'm the Employee of the Week!

I have been with Best Friends for almost a year now; my job title is the Play Timer.  I'm also a certified Doggie Day Camp Counselor.  Some say I'm the guest's favorite person because it's my job to play, cuddle and entertain them!  Giving them delicious suite treats, ice cream breaks and other goodies are also hand made by me!  I have an associate's degree in liberal arts, criminal justice, and political science.  I'm working on obtaining my bachelor's degree in law, criminal justice, and entering the police academy.  I have many accomplishments and skills that I have acquired.  I'm an Eagle Scout with gold, silver and bronze meddles.  I have also traveled the world with the Boy Scouts.  As well as being a Free Mason and belong to Temple Lodge #4 AF+AM.  I can play many instruments and love to work on cars.

My favorite buddy at Best Friends has to be Mocha.  She is the sweetest Chocolate Lab in the world.  She is super energetic and love's to be pet and hugged, and plenty of belly rubs.  I love how Mocha is very calm and sweet in her Vacation Villa, but when she gets out side she becomes the fun, energetic, and hilarious lab that she is.  She loves to play with me and when its time to go in she looks up at me with those sweet eyes begging to stay out and play for just a little longer.  It's hard to resist the "Big Ole Chocolate Lady"!!

I would love to meet you, so come and see me any time here at Best Friends Houston!!

Best Friends Pet Personals

My name is Joey; I currently live at Best Friends Pet Care with the Greyhound Pets of America rescue group.  They call my coloring Black and White ticked, and I'm what some may call big boned for my breed I'm long and big.  But don't let my size fool you I just want to be cuddled and loved on.  I'm looking for a family that is big on renting movies, channel surfing and hanging out.  I excel in two different sportting events, long distance lounging and sleeping.  Don't let my laid back attitude fool you I'm still fun loving and outgoing.  I can sprint for a short amount of time but because of my size I'm not very fast.  Let's see, my favorite song would have to be "Lean on You (me)" by Bill Withers.  That song say's lot about me, I think.  Another one of my favorite things to do is savor the goodness of life!-and by life I'm mean food!  There's nothing like a big bowl full of kibble.  Yum, Yum however please if you would like to try some of my food you better get your own bowl because I'm not good at sharing.  To learn more about me and my friends check us out at Greyhound Pets of America or call Best Friends Pet Care for more information.  I look forward meeting you and your family.

3 Dogs Taken Into Custody For Impersonating Best Friends Employees..

After an anonymous tip came in from a concerned guest (probably a cat) about 3 dogs posing as employees, local authorities decided to look into it. When approached for questioning, a high speed chase ensued through the halls and yards of Best Friends Pet Care. The chase ended peacefully when the 3 perpetrators ran out of gas and took a nap. For the past 2 weeks, Mocha, Bailey, and Juno have been donning Best Friends uniforms and "pawing" out free suite treats, ice cream breaks, cuddletimes, and bed time stories. They have each been sentenced to 1 hour of community service (a.k.a. Poop Scooping) and promised not to do it again. This has been the biggest crime spree to hit Best Friends since the 2 day standoff and arrest of the "Cat Burglar" of '09 in Kitty City.   The mug shots are included below..

Join us for Doggie DayCamp!!

Juno and Myles invite you to come out and play!

That's right; Best Friends Houston has free open enrolment in our Doggie Day Camp program right now!!  It's a great way to help with your pets pack social skills.  It also helps use up some of that energy that might have been used chewing up those brand new shoes or dad's favorite recliner.  Also, summer is coming up and we all must look our best in our summer swimsuit, why not have them shed a few pounds here with our Doggie Day Camp Counseler.  We have multiple activities that we do during the week our most popular is Paw-Painting on arts and crafts day.  We invite all the campers to join in and make a beautiful painting that any proud parent would be happy to hang on the fridge!  We also play games, snack times and during the summer months Pool Parties!  Speaking of parties, they don't stop at the pool.  We also throw birthday parties, holiday parties and any other special event.   So, your not sure if Day Camp is right for your dog.  Here are some examples of dogs that might especially benefit.
-High energy or highly social pets like labs or goldens
-Puppies and young dogs who need a lot of attention
-Dogs who show signs of boredom or anxiousness when left home alone
-Older dogs or dogs with weight problems, to keep them active
Please call to make an appointment or ask any questions about our Doggie Daycamp Program, our associate's would be happy to help 713-664-6111.  Come see us, we look forward in meeting the new campers!

Employee of the Week!

Hello, my name is Tiffany and I'm this week's employee of the week! Here's little bit about me and my best friend.

I'm in collage for business administrations; I also plan on backpacking around Europe for 6 to9 months.  After college I plan on opening a coffee shop.  I consider myself to be a very busy person with many responsibilities.  I take care of an elderly couple during the weekend, make mobiles for extra money, and I also (with the help of my room mates)  rehabilitate stray cats that may have been put down other wise.  I am pround to say that we have a 100% success rate.  When I'm not doing my side jobs I spend time with my Goddaughter, Luna.  At Best Friends I feed, monitor, and clean up after the pet guests.  I feel that when a pet seems distress or lonely, I try to provide company and comfort to them.  Also to amke sure they have the best time at Best Friends Pet Care, beacuse it's best to stay with friends!

I have a funny story about one guest that comes here and is special to me.  His name is Guinness, he is an 11 year old fawn colored Greyhound.  He is an old timer around these parts; he was actually adopted from Greyhound Pets of America out of this very building.  Ther first time I saw Guinness I had only been here for about two weeks and I only got a small peak at him and I thought he was a deer!  I thought to myself Best Friends boards deer's?!  It clearly was a mistake of false identity, but now whenever he comes to visit I have to spend a little time with him because it reminds me of the wonderment I felt the first week I thought Guinness was a deer.

Stop By and meet us, we love to show you around!

Best Friends Houston's Employee of the week

Hi!  My name is Sandy, heres and little information about me and my best friend!

I have cats myself so I leave extra room in my heart for more kitties.  I'm an animal care technician and my job is to feed and care for the pets.  I'm also currently attending school, earning my bachelor's degree in Psychology.  I love caring for the animals at Best Friends Pet Care.

So many Kitties, so little time!  But if I had to pick one, I would go with Ginger Snap.  Once you earn his love, you have it forever!  How do you earn Ginger Snap's love?  With a belly rub, of course!  He's a charming, funny, loveble cat.
He breaks hearts wherever he goes!

Stop by and meet me some time, I would love to show you around!

Best Friends Makes a Donation to Local Animal Shelters

SANTA VISITS LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTERS!

Each year Best Friends in Houston sets up an "Angel Tree" in our center, where we collect cash donations and other supplies for homeless dogs and cats in our community.  This year we collected supplies for the Houston Humane Society and the Houston SPCA

Thanks to our very generous customers, our Angel Tree Program turned out to be a great success!  Last Friday we were able to deliver two large bags full of goodies to the two animal shelters.

Still want to donate? It's never to late!  Give us a call or stop by our center anytime; we are happy to help!
