Summer Cuts!

Spring is here and Summer is right around the corner..  That means it is time for your dog to shed his/her winter coat.  What better way to help them than with a "Pup" Cut, Shave, or Shedicure.  This will ensure that your furry friend is nice and cool (and looking good) when it is 100+ degrees outside.  But don't just take our word for it, our friends' Rico and Yoshi are already loving their new "do's."

SPCA Mutt Strut and Runway Race!

If you were flying in Saturday morning at Bush Intercontiental Airport, you might have noticed something a little peculiar as you were docking into your terminal.  The Houston SPCA was hosting their annual mutt strut on the runway!  You can be the judge on how the turn out was, the place was packed and man did we have a blast while we were there!  Just check out some of these pictures that Noah H. Photography took that morning!

Look at how many people were there! It was fantastic to see so many people who were there for such a great cause.  Every booth including yours truly was surrounded by people and pets.
(Our booth was the white tent on the back row!)
Here's a close up of our booth, thats our manager Brandy getting set up for the big day!  Everyone just loved the prize wheel!
There was some pretty well know character's that showed up for this event.  Can you spot the super hero?
Not only were there remarkable people but check out some of these pic's!  We saw all shape and sizes!

Why, is that Don King's twin?!?!!

AND THERE OFF!!!!

Is that a bird.....no its a plane.....no that thing in front of the plane..Oh its Super Man!!!

Snow in Houston!?

That's right, in fact about once a week we get a healthy dose of snow here at Best Friends with our new little boarding buddy named Snowball!  Snowball, an 8 month old Bichon Frise, is a big ball of energy in a little package.  When he isn't running with the "pack" during playgroup, Snowball enjoys making new friends with the resident Greyhounds from our friends at GPA.  So while ya'll up north are probably fed up with the white stuff, down here we'll take all the "Snow" that we can get!

Employee Of The Week!!

Hello, my name is Jesmy.  I am a student at the University of Houston and my major is in Family Studies.  Next year I will be attending medical school to pursue my career as a pediatrician.  Even though I enjoy working with children, I also love working with dogs.  I am proud to say that I am going to celebrate my 2 year anniversary at Best Friends in March.  I started off as a playtime associate but now I am a certified play camp counselor and animal care technician.  The best part about my job is seeing all of the different breeds of dogs that board with us and enjoying the unique personality of each.
One of my favorite companions is Oboe Pitman.  Not only do we share the same physical feature, long beautiful black hair, but we also share the same personality.  In her suite, Oboe is very quiet and only appreciates attention from a few people.  Every time she sees me, she begins to wag her tail with joy.  When she gets outside for playtime she marches to the beat of her own tune.  When oboe wants to play fetch, run around the yard, or just enjoy the scenery she does it on her terms.  The one thing she seems to enjoy the most is her cuddletime.  We both love cuddletime!   March in and visit us!!
